Lazio Never Stopped Believing, Says Inzaghi After Victory Over Torino

Lazio came back from 3-2 down to beat rivals Torino 4-3 at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday and head coach Simone Inzaghi has hailed his side’s attitude against Marco Giampaolo’s men.

The hosts finished the first half in the ascendancy after Gleison Bremer and Andrea Belotti’s goals canceled Andreas Pereira’s opener.

Lazio got their equalizer four minutes after the break through Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but Torino restored their lead and were coasting home with a victory when Sasa Lukic got their third goal during the dying embers of the game.

Ciro Immobile pulled parity for the visitors before Felipe Caicedo grabbed a last-gasp winner for Inzaghi’s men.

“I think this is an extremely important victory and a difficult one against a team that was well-organised,” the Italian coach told DAZN.

“We conceded the goal for 3-2 in a bit of a strange situation, but we never stopped believing. In the first half, we had the right approach, even if we weren’t always efficient enough with our finishing.

“To a degree, we made life difficult for ourselves with some errors on set plays and a throw-in. Every game has its hidden dangers.”

He added: “I couldn’t miss out on that hug with my lads, especially after the week we’ve had. We were missing so many players, but this squad proved it has values at its core.

“It has been a difficult week for us and we would prefer to work in different circumstances, but there’s not much we can do about it. We had to adapt.”
